On each day of the festival we invite you to join live painting sessions by artist Simas Žaltauskas to be held in various venues around the city, before and during the festival events. At first you will be met by the view of large blank canvases ready to be painted over during each session. On each day, in the presence of the audience, the artist is going to create an artwork of impressive size (2 x 2 metre). On the last day of the festival all paintings will be available for viewing at the Ground Floor Foyer of the Klaipėda Concert Hall, with a short presentation by the artist during the intermission of the closing concert.
Simas Žaltauskas completed his master’s studies in painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since then he has been an active participant of art exhibitions and other professional events in Lithuania and elsewhere. He has been member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association since 2008 and held a number of solo exhibitions. Since 2011 he has been teaching painting and drawing at the Klaipėda Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. In his own words, “we must nurture a different kind of man; to instil a somewhat different, more subtle perception of beauty; to show more Western culture. As for me, I feel an affinity for expressionism that originated in Germany.”
