The 34-year old Louis returns to visit his family after twelve years of absence. He spends a Saturday with his mother, sister, brother, and his brother’s wife. In this intimate setting, long-buried grievances, unspoken conflicts, suppressed anger and confusion inevitably surface. Words fill the house, but will Louis manage to reveal the reason why he has actually returned home?
Jean-Luc Lagarce was a French actor, director and playwright. Even though he was not widely recognized during his lifetime, he gained broad acclaim posthumously and became one of the most significant and frequently performed French playwrights. It’s Only the End of the World is his most famous play.
