Let’s finish the second day of the festival at the festival club Hofas. In this urban city space, Klaipėda Cello Octet, formed exclusively for the festival, invites you to hear Giovanni Sollima’s opus Violoncelles, vibrez!, revealing the unpredictable power of creativity. The programme is complemented by Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1, where delicate Baroque melodies intertwine with poetic Brazilian music.
Klaipėda Cello Octet has been formed exclusively for the festival and it will perform Violoncelles, vibrez!, which was composed in 1993 by the world-renowned cello virtuoso Giovanni Sollima and which has become one of the artist’s most frequently performed opuses. In addition, one of the most popular works in the cello repertoire, Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1, composed in 1930 and dedicated to Pablo Casals, will be played. This composition interweaves baroque musical figures in the style of Bach with the melodies of Brazilian folk songs.
